Every day of the week, Botero Lounge at Grand Wailea is the place to see and be seen, drink craft cocktails and munch artisan cheeses and charcuterie.
It boasts water features, a ceiling mural and ginormous whimsical pieces by world-famous sculptor Ferdinand Botero along with nightly live entertainment and cushy seating throughout.
On Tuesday, Grand Wailea rolled out a new sushi concept under the expert care of Sushi Chef Tadashi Yoshino. Hours are from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
Now you may indulge in hot and cold Japanese starters such as authentic tuna tataki salad, hamachi with jalapeno, shrimp and vegetable tempura, miso soup and organic chicken and lemongrass lumpia.
A large selection of nigiri sushi and sashimi is available. Specialty rolls include the Rainbow with crab, avocado, ahi, shrimp, salmon, hamachi and tobiko caviar; and the Spicy Tuna with ahi, sambal chili and sesame oil. New desserts range from green-tea trifle (like a Japanese cheesecake) and yuzu sorbet with fresh fruit.
