See Ryan Gosling As Marvels Next Superhero

Ryan Gosling is one of the best actors on the planet, though he has not yet entered the MCU. However, some fan art shows him as the next big superhero.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for pulling in big-name actors for their movies. There have been superheroes and supervillains played by relatively unknown individuals who became big stars and then there have been Oscar-winning legends who have stepped into roles. Thus, it’s really no surprise when someone signs up to be a Marvel hero. That includes Ryan Gosling, who looks great in this fan art as the hero Nova. Check out the Instagram post made by clements.ink to get an idea of what he might look like:

It almost seems, as Thanos would say, that an actor like Ryan Gosling’s entry to the MCU is inevitable. It’s just a matter of finding the right role for him. With Nova being a fairly popular hero that is yet to make an appearance, this seems like a pretty good fit. Now, although Nova hasn’t made an appearance yet, we have seen the Nova Corp in the MCU.

We met the Nova Corp in the first Guardians of the Galaxy. In the comics and the movie, they’re essentially space cops. We got to meet a few specific members in the Guardians of the Galaxy, with Glenn Close playing Nova Prime and John C. Reilly and Peter Serafinowicz playing Rhomann Dey and Garthan Saal respectively. Apparently, the Nova Corp’s homeworld is destroyed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, though this happened off-screen. That leaves a lot of room for serving members to escape and gives us a way into a solo Nova movie or TV show. Although you don’t really get a sense of it in their MCU appearances, Nova Corp members can tap into the Nova Force and get enhanced strength, speed, and durability, along with the ability to fly. If Ryan Gosling does end up playing the role of Nova, it’s likely that he’d be playing Earth’s first member, Richard Rider.

Really, the way the MCU has set things up, Richard Rider’s origins can almost perfectly mirror the comics, with some very slight changes. In the comics, Richard Rider is chosen to inherit the power of Rhomann Dey, after the Nova homeworld is destroyed by the pirate Zorr. In the MCU, we’ve already met Rhomann Dey and the Nova Corp homeworld has already been destroyed by Thanos. Now all that’s left is to find out that John C. Reilly’s character survived and made it to Earth to transfer his power to the unsuspecting Richard Rider, possibly played by Ryan Gosling.

Sam Alexander is another member of the Nova Corp from Earth that we might see introduced. However, Sam Alexander is depicted as a Hispanic teenager in the comic, so Ryan Gosling would not fit in this role. It’s always possible we could see Sam Alexander further down the line, or they could be introduced in the same movie. We do know that Deadline reported Moon Knight writer Sabir Pirzada is writing the script for a Nova project for Marvel, so we’ll presumably be hearing more news about this hero soon.
